Poem: Reflections of 2012, by Colin Thomson

Posted on January 2, 2013 by

Another year is closing soon, and soon opens the door
A fresh new start, a new beginning, who could wish for more?
A time for reflection of the years gone by
Smiles at the memories, some tears in our eyes
Did you know I’m writing this in my favorite chair
Sat alone, no-one’s at home, I look and you’re not there

A time for reflection as I sit and stare
At the man who looks back at me and says don’t you dare
Here a smile appears and twinkle in my eyes
Yes its been a good year, new friendships have taken me by surprise

It snowed on my birthday, my son had his graduation day
Had fun while I was working away at the rock
Said goodbye to some dear friends, yes that was a shock
Puts life into perspective and live for the day
Chase your dreams achieve your goals
You know its the only way

Went to a Deafsmart ball and the ladies were hot
Made me realise what I’m missing and my performance rocked
Christmas time soon came and went without the mistletoe
Did a sign song workshop and hope they enjoyed the show

Two close friends got engaged as love filled the air
Sure did put a smile on my face
Created the Boston Angels ladies dark and fair
Had fun and laughter at their place

Now the hours are closing on another year
Fireworks fly up in the sky as we let out a cheer
Here’s to health and happiness, love and laughter too
2013 please be good to me, and I hope its good for you too.

Happy New Year everyone.
