Watch: A Deafeeeeee’s dream

Posted on June 26, 2013 by

Last October, film director Ted Evans and writer Charlie Swinbourne came to Peterborough and meet the members of the Peterborough and District Deaf Children’s Society (PDDCS) and tell them all about how they got involved in writing and film making.

We booked a small cinema for Ted and Charlie to show off some of their work and explain why they do what they do and how they overcome the barriers that face deaf people in the world of work. The kids loved it – they were inspired enough to want to make their own film.

Soon after, we were also very lucky to have the help of top deaf Actor and SenCity Director, Jacob Casselden, who came to deliver three drama workshops especially designed for our members. They loved Jacob and the workshops he delivered. He gave them even more motivation to get creative and express themselves through film. Through the winter, the deaf children’s youth group got to work on their first attempt at film making.

The result is  ‘A deafeeeee’s dream’. It’s a 15 minute fantasy ride into the daydreams of deaf school kids. I want to congratulate all the kids involved in this film and thank Ted, Charlie and the volunteers from PDDCS who worked on this project. Enjoy!
