Liberal Democrat MP Sir Malcolm Bruce has announced that he will stand down from Parliament at the next general election.
Mr Bruce, who chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Deafness and International Development Select Committee, has represented Gordon, in the north-east of Scotland, since 1983.
As a father of a deaf daughter, he has long campaigned on deaf issues in the House of Commons, recently submitting a Bill seeking to set up a review body to look at the impact of communication support for deaf and hard of hearing people.
He told the Press and Journal newspaper: “I’d rather go when I’m fit, active, effective and, I hope, still enjoying it. I think I’m going to feel quite liberated but I want people to know that I’m not retiring right now, I’m just announcing that I’m not going to stand at the next election. I’ll be as busy as ever until then.”

This is a not only a bully of Deaf people, but the *worst* type of bully of Deaf people – one that picks on the *most* vulnerable Deaf people – by voting to remove social security from them.
