If you’ve got an iPhone, an iMac, a MacBook Pro, and an iPod, as some people, naming no names but quite possibly the Editor of this site, have, then you could be forgiven for thinking that you have enough Apple products already.
But think again.
Think what it’d be like to have a hearing aid that is all-white. That works as intuitively as an iPhone. That is as slim as a MacBook Air.
Or, what it’d be like to have an iPhone or iPod that never needed headphones.
Either way, that would be pretty cool.
And something along those lines might just happen. Because according to this article from The Register:
Apple is working with a hearing aid manufacturer to produce a device using technology similar to that used in the much-derided bluetooth headset. The new kit will allow the hard-of-hearing to stream voice and music directly into the ear.
According to a report from Reuters, the fruity firm is working with GN Store Nord, the world’s fourth largest hearing aid manufacturer, to develop a discreet new device, called the LiNX, which for the time being will only be compatible with iPhones.

I strongly doubt you’ll see an Apple-branded hearing aid, as Apple does not want to have to deal with stringent, burdonsome US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) medical device regulations.
That being said, GN ReSound (and their Beltone brand) are pretty much poised to introduce a working Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (BLE) hearing aid (tentatively named the “Linx”), as they are already on their second generation 2.45 gHz Verso hearing aid platform.
That bein said, the current drain for the Linx is over 5 mA, which stretches even a fresh 13 battery.
