Election 2015: Former Disability Minister Esther McVey loses seat

The General Election results are still coming in, but on a good night for the Conservative Party, there has been one notable defeat – with the news in the last few minutes that Esther McVey, former Disability Minister, has lost her seat in Wirral West.

McVey was formerly in charge of the DWP’s Access to Work scheme as part of her role as Disability Minister, and was also the Employment Minister, and as such, was seen as being linked to some of the coalition government’s most hated policies.
