Watch: Documentary about CODAs in Australia – Passport Without a Country

Posted on July 18, 2017 by

A 1992 Australian documentary about Children Of Deaf Adults (CODAs) called Passport Without a Country has been made available online for the first time.

The documentary, which has full subtitles, interviews a number of CODAs about their experiences of growing up in Deaf families and communities, encountering other people’s attitudes, and above all, their feelings about their identity.

The stories show both the positives and negatives of their experiences, with some of the CODAs becoming very emotional as they tell their stories, particularly in cases where they’ve left their ‘Deaf’ lives behind.
