Designers use augmented reality for interactive ‘Deaf’ magazine

A German design group have created a concept magazine, called ‘Deaf’, aimed at the German sign language community.

Aside from simply creating a much-appreciated deaf-focused literature, the team at Morphoria will equip the magazine with their own augmented realty app, so that readers can interact with the articles they read.

As the team points out, this helps the deaf community to appreciate and learn from the magazine, while also allowing those who do not sign to access the culture of the signing community.

It has been said that “as far as applications to augmented reality go, this one particularly good because it takes something static (a magazine page) and creates a better learning experiencing by animating it.”
