Dafydd Eveleigh: Vote for Cardiff Deaf Centre to receive refurbishment funds

Posted on October 6, 2017 by

Cardiff Deaf Centre is an old building, built in the 1900s; it was previously managed by the local council and over the years it sadly fell in to disrepair. To date, the trustees have embarked on a refurbishment program to breathe new life in to the building. We are looking for innovative approaches that will ensure sustainability of the building for future generations.

New community groups have started to use the centre, a play group and support group for families of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, for example, and this drives the urgency for refurbishment even more.

All the savings realised through the solar installation will be ploughed back in to the charity enabling us to support user groups further by maintaining low cost rental hire, and low running costs to encourage other service provision.

The number of people using Cardiff Deaf Centre is on the increase after years of decline, we have recently refurbished the front exterior of the building and installed new windows but as the photos show there is so much more work needed to be done. We need to raise at least £50,000 to complete the refurbishment of the building and the solar panels will go some way to support this refurbishment.

We have signed up for a Crowdfunding site run by M&S and we are currently in top place.  We need as many votes possible to ensure we are number one; we have been leading the votes for a while but the other groups are catching up.

With an estimated 200,000 BSL users in the UK, Cardiff Deaf Centre would love to have your support and show how Deaf people can come together to support each other.

Voting is really easy and only takes 1-2 minutes of your time. Just visit the following webpage:
