Posted on September 24, 2012 by

ITV Tyne Tees News has featured two Deaf athletes who are struggling to raise money to enable them to participate in the Deaflympics in Sofia next year.

Beth Lishman and Colette Doran are both at the top of their sport. Beth is the best deaf female Hammer thrower in the country, the same goes for Collete with the Javelin. Both put in hours of training every week. Both are gold medal contenders for next years Deaf Olympics in Sofia. Both have a problem.

Both athletes need to raise £3500 to participate in the games. ITV have also done a video report (alas, without subtitles) which you can see at this link: http://vimeo.com/50010443
