A range of publications have reported on this disturbing story. This extract is from the Docklands and East London Advertiser:
Abdul Kadir, 25, who is also deaf, repeatedly beat, kicked and insulted the women over the course of a three year and two year relationship respectively.
Kadir, of Westferry Road on the Isle of Dogs, ridiculed their physical appearance, and spread false rumours that one was mentally disabled.
He was found guilty of routinely physically abusing the women, aged 28 and 31, last month. But he was cleared of repeatedly raping them and locking them in their own homes.
Sentencing Kadir to three years behind bars at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, Judge Patricia Lees said: “You are a violent and manipulative bully.
“After a honeymoon period when you lulled each victim into a false sense that they were loved by you, you subjected them to systematic abuse.
“You employed classic bullying tactics, pretending the assaults had never happened and blaming the victims.
“You have shown no remorse,” she added.

This is classical psychopathic behaviour. On the one hand he is nice to people to get them into his confidence but then behind the scenes he’s a nasty piece of work. Psychopaths are dangerous to deaf people because we are fairly easily led into things by offers of friendship. We are easier victims than hearing because in many cases our social life is not all that easy so when someone comes forward with offers of friendship we often go for it.
The definition of a psychopath is essentially that they don’t have a conscience. They struggle with concepts like guilt, shame and self control. They are not afraid to take risks. They manipulate people shamelessly and in many cases they don’t know when it is time to stop. For that reason many people find it hard to deal with psychopathic people, because their behaviour goes beyond what most people would agree is reasonable.
Not all psychopaths are evil. Many policemen, military people, high powered businessmen and media personalities are psychopaths but there are varying degrees of intensity. Not all psychos kill and eat the neighbours, that is an extreme of perverted behaviour.
Boris Johnson is a typical psychopath. Nice in public and a bit of a bully behind the scenes. Jeffrey Archer is an absolute classic, ticks all the boxes. Do NOT fall out with people like this because they will cause you endless trouble.
How to deal with psychopaths? Well the easiest way is to keep away. Once they start the bullying just disengage immediately no matter how charming they may be. If you are not within their influence they will look for someone more co-operative.
Another name for psychopath is bully. It isn’t quite as simple as that because some bullies are not psychopathic, it’s just manipulative behaviour.
The real psycho has a Jekyll and Hide nature as in the case above. Be aware. Be warned. People like this can make your life a misery.
Here’s some good advice.

To be honest I never knew anything about psychopaths until I was at University. A couple of psychology students were discussing psychopathic behaviour and I suddenly recognised my father.

unfortunately the reporting of this story contains several inaccuracies – either lazy reporting or an attempt to preserve anonymity for the victims?
