A popular deaf-run cafe in Derby is counting the cost of yet another bout of criminal damage on its building.
The Arboretum Park Cafe was targeted by vandals between Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th August. Criminals climbed onto the roof of the cafe, damaged a skylight window and tried to break into the building. The cafe has been attacked by vandals for the seventh time in a year.
Police in Derby are appealing for witnesses and information after the incident.

Janeene Streather, who is also deaf, is the cafe co-ordinator.
She said: “It make me feel very sad and frustrated that people feel they can try to break-in when we are a not-for-profit project that is trying to integrate with the community and bring people of all different cultures together.
“They seem to think they can do what they want and break in and take money when the reality is we don’t keep any cash here in the cafe overnight.
“It is costing us money because each time it happens our insurance premiums go up and I hope it does not come to the stage that we simply cannot afford it and the project has to close.”
