Posted on May 14, 2014 by

Deaf Diabetes UK are holding an information and discussion event in London on Saturday.

It will feature a talk on Diabetes and alcohol with speaker Junee Sangani, a specialist from Central Middlesex Hospital. A group discussion will also follow. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance as places are limited and deaf people without diabetes are welcome too. The closing date for tickets is today (Wednesday)

Catherine Forry of DDUK said: “We are the only Deaf-led Voluntary Group for Deaf people with diabetes, offering support, information and advice. This event is important to enable Deaf BSL users with diabetes to meet up to share experiences of living with diabetes and for support.

“Mainstream Diabetes Support Groups currently not accessible so its vital to self manage diabetes for long term health benefits and enjoy life as preventative measures to avoid developing complications with poorly control diabetes.

“Education is the way forward to accessible information and understanding diabetes in accessible BSL formats to diabetes-related health issues affecting those with diabetes to self-manage diabetes better.”
