have you consider playing some music? like ipod or something as it will help to distract your ears from the plane noises?

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually starting using noise cancelling headphones on the plane and it has made a world of difference. You can read about that here. http://livingwithhearingloss.com/2015/07/14/cancel-the-noise-not-the-flight/

I haven’t noticed a flare up of my tinnitis which is mild but I do have temporary increased hearing loss after exposure to the noise of an airplane ride. I use custom made ear plugs which I originally got to protect my ears during an MRI. They are not very comfortable on a long trip of 6 or 7 hours but I feel it is worth it to protect my hearing.
