Cookery demonstrations with BSL interpretation services take place at Borough Market on the second Friday of every month.
A brigade of professional chefs and food writers, accomplished in a wide range of culinary disciplines, provide free demonstrations in the Market Hall, between 12.30-2pm.
They offer a snapshot of the best seasonal produce available from the Market and impart their expert knowledge for home cooks.
So why not go along and learn some cooking skills in BSL?
Upcoming events:
Friday 11th September – Luke Robinson
Specialist fish chef Luke Robinson is once again manning the pass at the Demonstration Kitchen and this time around he will be focusing on eels.
Luke’s demonstration takes place during Totally Thames Festival, a celebration of all things arts, culture and river related, and believe it or not the European eel has long since been a resident of the River Thames.
We’re lucky to have a number of highly experienced fishmongers in the Market, always ready to skin, trim, fillet and portion their fresh produce any which way you please.
If you’ve ever thought of widening your skills to cooking with eels then this is the demo for you, forget jellied eels, Luke will share his tips and techniques with you to create some delicious dishes.
Friday 9th October – Alix Caiger
Armed with her knowledge of seasonal market produce, Alix Caiger returns to demonstrate contemporary menus in the demo kitchen, and we look forward to welcoming her back.
Her food places the emphasis on carefully sourced ingredients; chosen from artisan producers and she is here at the perfect time to take advantage of October’s autumnal harvest.
13th November – Chef TBA
Join one of the Borough Market chefs in the Demonstration Kitchen, ready to share techniques, tips and tasters of their seasonal dishes created with fresh Market produce. Wrap up warm and prepare to widen your repertoire in the kitchen.
