Here’s a moving moment from the Democratic Convention (where Hillary Clinton was nominated for President) which has been shared courtesy of the Detroit Free Press on Facebook. It has subtitles, and it’s nice to see an interpreter at the side, too –
Former U.S. Senator Tom Harkin taught delegates at the Democratic National Convention the sign for America in sign language as a nod to the 26th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I can notice, how clumsily some imitate the configuration of the two 5-handshape hands.
But this helps further the Deaf Awareness toward sign language, instead of hearing loss.

It was Democrat Senator Harkin who with another Senator introduced the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which became law of the US. He has a deaf brother with whom he uses ASL. The sign AMERRICA was chosen as a metaphor of the country of immigrants from many cultures who joined together and made it into a cohesive unified nation. The sign becomes a rallying “cry” for the country.
