Can you Lipread (Speechread) me? Is a very LOADED question.
iI a Deaf person says “Yes” is absolves the Hearie of the burden of Communication. Communication is always a TWO WAY burden of Communication. Lip-Speechreading is always a SKILL. It’s something some Deaf people will be talented at and others not at all.
Judging a Deaf person by how well they Lip/Speechread makes as much sense as judging a person by how well they can Ice SKATE. it’s a SKILL some will have, others will not.
