A student at University College London is conducting research into patient experiences of the cochlear implant assessment process.
The aim of the research is to gather the opinions of adults who have been through the process of applying for a cochlear implant (including those who were not successfully approved at the time), and discover how they felt about this experience and current guidelines in place.
If you have been assessed to receive a cochlear implant as an adult, and would like to contribute to this research, please go to https://opinio.ucl.ac.uk/s?s=50930 for the survey.

Everybody was so shocked that I went for the implant ah but for a good reason. Audiologists at Queen Alexandra hospital, Portsmouth stated I only had 5% useful hearing left…..due to the rapid decline of hearing loss in my autumn years thanks to certain genes. Was fast tracked for surgery. Although I miss music with analogue frequencies; communication is not hampered at all. I have the benefit of both spoken English and the lifelong BSL.
