The Deaf LGBTIQA+ is a small charity that has been up and running since May 2018. We started with a small website, funded by members of the deaf LGBTIQA+ community who are also members of a deaf UK LGBTIQA+ Facebook group.

We wrote sometime ago about funding we received from the LGBT Consortium to undertake the largest ever consultation with people who are deaf and associate with the LGBTIQA+ spectrum. This is to understand their wants and needs to gain equality in their everyday lives.
We are aiming for at least 150 people to do the survey online, and for at least 56 people to also take part in focus groups happening across England. There is also one such focus group in Wales, funded by the Cardiff Deaf Centre. We have made approaches in Scotland and Northern Ireland too.
So, if you or someone you know that are deaf and you feel belong to the spectrum, please participate in this by taking part in our survey.

We cannot really continue this voluntary work without knowing what your experiences and priorities are. We need this evidence to tell us what we should be prioritising and to also use your experiences to target specific issues e.g. Pride and Sexual Health.
Our questions were created from a consultation workshop with approximately 20 deaf LGBTIQA+ people. There was also input from Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. We started with a range of issues we either knew, wanted to know or needed to know about. We then categorised these and have created BSL videos for each question of the survey.
If you or someone you know prefers to do the questionnaire in BSL, please contact us and we will put you in touch with one of our volunteers who will support in giving your input in BSL.
We give thanks to everyone in advance for your support and to the LGBT Consortium for the grant. And most importantly our volunteers to date who have been involved in supporting this important work.
Please click share, click retweet, or forward this on to someone by email, as this will help us reach as many people as possible!
