Deaf actress Nadia Nadarajah is to star in Midnight Movie, a new production running at the Royal Court Theatre from next week.
The Going Through and As You Like It actress will perform alongside Tom Penn in the play, which is about being “extremely online”.
The show, written by Eve Leigh and directed by Rachel Bagshaw, will combine spoken English, captioning, British Sign Language (BSL) and audio description during every performance. Every show will also be relaxed.
During a break in rehearsals, Nadia spoke to theatre critic and The Limping Chicken contributor Liam O’Dell about what audiences can expect from Midnight Movie.
You can watch the video – complete with captions, BSL and voiceover – below, or on Liam’s YouTube channel.
Nadia has also produced two further videos for the show, including a BSL trailer and a video explaining ‘the digital body’ – an experience for those unable to see the show in person at the Royal Court.
Performances start on Wednesday 27 November, with the run finishing on Saturday 21 December.
More information can be found online at royalcourttheatre.com, with £15 access tickets available.
