This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Deaf Sports Personality of the Year (DSPY) awards.
The first Awards were held at Wembley Stadium in 2010, with over 900 people attending. 10 years later, we would’ve hosted the 6th instalment of the awards last weekend at Tottenham Hotspur Football Stadium, but for the pandemic.
DSPY are glad to go ahead with virtual awards through this pandemic as life goes on and we still need to recognise all the sporting achievements over the last year from 2019/20.
DSPY announced the shortlisted nominees per category over the last week, with two new added categories, Visual Sports Media of the Year and Overseas Visual Sports Media of the Year via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and DSPY website.

Deaf sport is very under reported. There are never any accounts of what happened or photos of the winners or indeed any kind of reporting or publicity.
That makes it just a little difficult to raise enthusiasm for people I have never heard of.
Second class service as usual.
