Alison Hendry is a profoundly Deaf BSL user currently working at the University of Edinburgh as their BSL Officer. Proud Glaswegian living by the beach in Edinburgh (don’t ask which city is better!). Hello there-my name is Abebe who is pursuing my PhD degree at Queen’s University in Canada. My research topic is “Effective participation of deaf and hard of hearing persons in the criminal justice system: the case of Ethiopia”.
My respondents will be deaf and hard of hearing persons and justice personnel who work in the administration of the criminal justice system. I cannot sign so that I am thinking to have research assistance who can use sign language to administer my interview with deaf people. As it will be my first time to study deaf people’s matter, I frustrate if I can do it properly. Can you offer to me some advice, please?
