The popular children’s news programme Newsround, which celebrates its 50th anniversary on Monday, is to launch a daily version of the show in British Sign Language (BSL).

The move, announced by the BBC on Thursday, will see a BSL bulletin made available on their website every day.

“To reach even more children, from spring onwards Newsround will be launching the first ever BSL version of the show.

“Each weekday the online bulletin will include a sign language interpreter and, in the near future, transcribed subtitles will also be introduced,” the broadcaster said.

BSL versions of the programme’s daily bulletins will begin from 19 April.
