A disturbing story from India has surfaced of a 40-year-old deaf man who allegedly had his throat cut by a teenage girl last Sunday, because he failed to respond to her honking her scooter.
Sudama Lader was loading items onto his bicycle in the state of Chhattisgarh, in central India, when the accused girl – riding the scooter with her mother – tried to overtake him.
It’s claimed the teen beeped several times to get his attention, but Mr Lader did not reply because his deafness meant he didn’t hear the sound.
When the man still failed to respond after she dismounted her scooter and yelled at him, it’s alleged the girl slashed Mr Lader’s throat with a knife before she fled the scene and left her mother behind.
The victim was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the girl was apprehended by police 20km away from the city of Raipur, and officers said they also recovered a weapon from the teenager.
She has been charged with murder under the country’s criminal code, with India’s Free Press Journal reporting the minor will appear before the Juvenile Justice Board on Monday.
