Deaf US model Nyle DiMarco reveals it is “very possible” he has coronavirus

Nyle DiMarco, model and winner of the US Dancing with the Stars who is a Deaf ASL user, has shared a vlog on his social platforms to explain his recent illness and why he chose not to get tested for COVID-19.

Filming at home, DiMarco, described his recent symptoms of a fever, chills, sore throat and a mild cough most likely being attributed to the Coronavirus.

“It is very possible I contracted coronavirus and I have access to get tested but I do not want to. The reason is because there is a shortage of covid-19 test kits in the U.S. and the sick patients need it more than I do.”

Looking bright and well, DiMarco stated that he was now on the mend and he urged people who only had mild symptoms not to get tested. His symptoms lasted for 48 hours and knowing that he was low-risk, was able to remain calm throughout.

“If you are healthy and have no respiratory issues, I urge you to be mindful of sick patients that need to get tested more than you do. And stay home to avoid spreading (it) and flattening the curve.”

He ended the video, which has been viewed by 2.1 million people, in a positive nature adding “We’re all in this together, let’s look out for each other!”
