Meet: Koribella, a spiritual life coach and therapist who is also deaf!

Posted on March 22, 2022 by

Hi everyone, my name is Koribella and I am originally from Bristol though I currently live somewhere green in Cheshire!  My family’s heritage is Indian and my Mother is Scottish. I’ve been deaf from birth and I have a deaf sister too who is older than me.

I am self employed and work as a Spiritual Life Coach, therapist and energy healer. The therapies I offer include reiki and using the Violet Flame. I have more types of holistic healing coming soon too!

I always knew I was different and somehow I always felt I was not meant to fit into ‘society’s system’ I always had this inkling that I was meant to do something different but I couldn’t put my finger on it until I moved to London and there I had my first spiritual awakening.

My childhood was very difficult. As an empath, I could feel every person’s energy and their thoughts so most of time I couldn’t think my own thoughts. I remember felt so confused constantly growing up and kept telling myself ‘life doesn’t make sense’

Over the years I have explored different healing methods to firstly heal myself and I am so excited to announce that I am officially qualified in reiki, spiritual coaching/counselling and I also offer support for those wishing to explore the traumas of their inner child.

I work mostly with deaf people, and these are my main audience of course. I work with several clients almost everyday who are deaf. I have worked with hard of hearing and hearing people too occasionally. As I am a British Sign Language user when I work with those who don’t sign I use text via Instagram DM/zoom chat box for our healing sessions together and luckily I can say I have had no problems whatsoever.

I feel really fortunate to work with clients through Zoom – even with hearing people where I can use text. It’s amazing that yes, I can still send energy healing/connect with other peoples energy via technology!

I’ve only experienced one small barrier when I was training when a lady couldn’t do a session with me as she needed to guide me through a meditation whilst I had my eyes closed. I explained that I could always wake, lipread and then go back to closing my eyes, but this therapist felt it wouldn’t work. I was gutted for a while but I managed to find another qualified healer who could send the energy healing via Zoom while I had my eyes open!

When I work with a client I don’t see that there can be any barriers preventing us from working together at all because I would work with your energy during the session then share information I have sensed with you afterwards using your chosen method of communication. If I needed some help typing up into English I’d ask one of my family members or my partner to look at the grammar and correct it for me.

I have received so many positive reviews about my work, even today! Feedback from clients makes me feel so happy and proud. It encourages me to carry on and makes me feel as though I constantly want to spread my work and ask myself how can I better serve others. When I am doing my soul’s purpose which nourishes my spirituality, mind, & body, the more I do it the more I understand why am I doing this.

As an empath (someone who physically feels energies) I have been through a whole range of emotions, I completely empathise with how my clients feel. It  somehow heals me too every time I say ‘yes I know how are you feeling and I can help you with that’ as it reminds me of back when I was in their place and I felt I had nobody, alone in the darkness.

I enjoy so much of my work – chatting to my clients and sharing stories about our journeys together. I find it so beautiful. Healing them and allowing them to see their own light even brings me tears sometimes!

When I work with the deaf community I realise that as a community they are already really open minded and keen to learn about spiritual things. But then again there’s hardly any accessible information available with very little resources, or tools available online especially for deaf people. I find there is a huge gap in access especially when it comes to knowledge about energy healing sessions.

Access wise for me, there’s a lot of good examples of accessibility especially in online networks but not everybody can read English very well. There’s also barriers when deaf people want to join a  Zoom live circle for healing together but no live captions are available. I reckon things would improve a lot if people could provide captions on every videos and this includes live Zoom meetings.

I am noticing more and more deaf people are doing the work I do too! Not long ago I saw three clients of mine who signed up for spiritual coaching with me have now set up their own businesses as healers, mediums & provide guidance readings. I am so grateful to have a big deaf community who supports & shares the journey with me especially on my Instagram.

I feel as though the ultimate aim of my career is to build a community for deaf people where they can have full access, and feel able to share their spiritual journey in spiritual whilst knowing they are not alone when it comes to healing. I would love to secure a venue where deaf people would come to book an energy healing session in person, spiritual counselling, or practise meditation together. It would be a sacred space place where they would feel safe to let their healing begin and understand themselves more freely.

I would love readers to understand that you are the creator of your reality. If only you knew how worth you are! I would also say to expect the unexpected when you are ready to explore spirituality.

I am currently working on creating further workshops on the process of manifestation. They will teach people how to manifest in simple steps. Watch this space!
