The Royal Association for Deaf people has announced its first deaf leader with the appointment of Mark Wheatley as their new permanent CEO.

Here’s the charity’s BSL announcement:

Before joining RAD, Wheatley served as the Executive Director of the European Union of the Deaf, leading transformational policy, deaf rights and accessibility initiatives within leading deaf organisations across Europe.

Wheatley, who is a native BSL user, is set to transition from Belgium to the United Kingdom and will start his role in January 2024.
