Hi everyone, I am a deaf artist and I am pleased to let you know about an exciting art sculpture trail that I am involved in. It is called “Paws on the Wharf”  and it has been commissioned by Guide Dogs UK who are also the sponsors of my sculpture.

The Paws on the Wharf Trail launches on 25th March across Canary Wharf  in London and will run until 17th May 2024. It is an accessible and inclusive sculpture trail for all the family to enjoy.

The aim of it is to bring together a collection of larger-than-life guide dog sculptures to Canary Wharf, each individually decorated by various artists in vibrant and interesting designs.

Delivered by Guide Dogs and Wild in Art, supported by Citi and hosted by Canary Wharf Group and Canal & River Trust, Paws on the Wharf aims to raise awareness and vital funds to help people with sight loss live more active and independent lives.

As an artist it feels absolutely great to be part of the trail and showcase my Deaf talent, not just as a role model for other Deaf people, but as proof that Deaf people can achieve anything if they put their mind to it. It is also an honour for me to be part of something that is raising awareness and funds for such a worthy cause.

There is only one Deaf artist that has participated in this trail, which is me! So please do not miss the opportunity to see it! It’s quite special. If you’d like to know in advance where you can find my sculpture, my dog is located at number 19 in the West India Quay area, and you can find it on the map here.

I have also created a video of me explaining the work in British Sign Language which is on Guide Dogs UK Facebook page. This video will tell you all more about the trail itself and my sculpture as well as the inspiration behind creating my dog and the feelings that inspired me as well as what I hope it will evoke in you when you see it. The link for the BSL video by me is here.

So, if you are in the Canary Wharf area between now and May why not check it out? Thank you for your time and support.
