My name is Carrie Fisher-Brownlee, and I’m originally from Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. Last year I got married and moved to Enniskillen, which has been such a lovely new chapter in my life. I’m profoundly deaf and use both BSL and speech in my everyday life.
During the week I work full time as a gardener in Antrim, looking after parks and gardens. I love keeping everything neat and colourful, from grass cutting to bedding maintenance and deadheading. There’s something really rewarding about helping outdoor spaces look their best.
When I’m not at work, I spend a lot of time in my own garden. I grow fruit and vegetables in my raised beds and polytunnel, which my husband and I built together. Nothing tastes as good as homegrown food, and it’s become a real passion of mine. On weekends, I also help out on our farm in Enniskillen, so life is always busy and hands-on.
Alongside this, I’ve recently started something completely new—my own independent travel business, Carrie Travels. For me, this is not only about financial freedom but also about creating opportunities to explore the world while helping others do the same.
I was inspired to take this leap by Emma, a friend from my boarding school days. I asked her endless questions before deciding to join her team, but I’m so glad I did—no regrets at all!
Travel has always been important to me. It’s about more than just holidays—it’s a chance to discover new cultures, learn history, and find places where we can truly unwind.
As a deaf person, I know first-hand the barriers that can come with travel, especially around airports and in traditional travel agent shops where BSL isn’t provided. That’s why I’m passionate about making travel more accessible.
Through my business, I can communicate directly with clients in BSL or spoken English, making the booking process smooth and personal. Whether someone is deaf, hard of hearing, or hearing, I can help them find exactly what they want, at the right budget, with a great deal.
I’m still in training and learning more every week, but my ambition is to specialise in family holidays, honeymoons, Disney trips, and both long- and short-haul getaways.
One of my most treasured travel memories is my honeymoon in Mauritius. It holds such a special place in my heart—the stunning scenery, the delicious food, the warmth of the culture, and the kindness of the people all made it unforgettable.
I love keeping people up to date with travel deals and packages, and you’ll often find me posting regularly on Instagram and Facebook. From last-minute trips to September getaways, Halloween breaks, and magical Christmas market escapes, there’s always something new to share.
In fact, I’m hoping to visit one of the Christmas markets myself this year with a family member, so keep an eye on my pages for updates.
If any readers would like a free quote for their dream holiday, I’d be delighted to help. You can reach me by email at carrietravels@outlook.com, or connect with me on Instagram @carrietravels1 and Facebook Carrie Fisher-Brownlee.
Travel has already brought so much joy and opportunity into my life, and I can’t wait to share that with others. Whether it’s helping you plan a dream getaway, a family holiday, or simply a little break to recharge, I’d love to be part of your journey.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and Carrie Travels—I hope to help you make your next adventure one to remember.
